From Pastor Jeff
Greetings! Thanks for visiting our Golden Prairie Church web site. Finding a new church first to visit and then eventually to make your church home is challenging. Perhaps a brief description of who we are and what we are about might help with your personal search.
Golden Prairie Church is a lighthouse for Jesus showing lost people His Way. Our “bottom line” is to uphold His truth, follow His lead and spread His fame. From those foundational values we pursue our mission together to worship God and develop maturing believers to be that lighthouse for the lost. And so, united in Jesus, we are building a strong community of skillful and loving believers who show lost people His Way. Skillful because we each have unique and valuable gifts that all of us need. Loving because Jesus wants us to love one another like He loves us. His kind of love on display in and through us shows others the Way to the real and eternal Life we have found in Jesus.
I love learning and teaching God’s Word. In 2 Timothy 3:16-17, the Apostle Paul declares, “All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right. God uses it to prepare and equip his people to do every good work” (New Living Translation). So at Golden Prairie we persist in looking to the Bible (the written Word of God) as our final authority in faith, truth and life. That is why week after week we continue to study, teach and share the truth of Scripture with each other and with the world. In addition to our regular Sunday morning worship and Bible learning opportunities, various small groups meet throughout the week in homes for Bible study, fellowship and prayer.
Some of our fun church family traditions include monthly carry-in dinners with unique themes (a culinary delight as we have some of the best cooks in the world), our summer picnic and baptism service at Horse Creek, vacation Bible school, and our annual Easter morning breakfast followed by a helium balloon release and resurrection celebration service. I love these healthy church traditions, and I think you would too.
